Serious question: Why did it seem like Saban and 'Bama fans were throwing Nussmeier under the bus after the last two games? Their shit defense and special teams were obviously the issue. A decent kicker and they're in the NT game. Well over 1k offensive yards in the last two losses.

Because Saban runs the defense and the defense is never wrong.

Maybe they already had an interest in Kiffin.

That's obvious, because they brought him in as an advisor. But why? The offense was an explosive strength the last couple of years, where as before they were heavily reliant on their defense. At first I thought it was sour grapes when Nussmeier left, but it's kinda of obvious now they weren't interested in bringing him back. Doesn't make a lot of sense on the surface.

Because HBO signed a Hard Knocks deal with Alabama, on the condition that Lane be brought in for extra drama.

Because Alabama fans are some of the most entitled in football, and as a result most of the fans I have encountered don't know anything outside of "Alabama and Nick Saban are the best." And if you've ever heard snippets of Paul Finebaum's show, you would find out that when something doesn't happen the way it should, they go into total meltdown mode.
